Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS – the oldest short film festival in the Baltics – celebrates its 30th anniversary April 10–16, 2026! 

For three decades, 2ANNAS has been a home for daring, original, and socially engaged cinema. This milestone edition is no exception: they invite filmmakers from around the world to submit their boldest short and medium-length works.

2ANNAS accepts films for the International Short Film Competition, the Baltic Short Film Competition, the International Mid-Length Film Competition, the International Children and Youth Competition and our new International Queer Short Film Competition.
 New this year: The International Queer Short Film Competition

As part of their anniversary, they proudly launch the International Queer Short Film Competition, shining a spotlight on fresh voices from Eastern and Central Europe. The winning film will receive our brand-new “Queer Anna” Award – created to honor outstanding queer storytelling in cinema.

The competition is open to entries from the following countries: Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Greece, Albania, Moldova, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The winner will be awarded the “Queer Anna Award”🌈

Key criteriaFilm duration for short films: up to 30 min;Film duration for mid-length films: up to 60 min;Completed after: January 1st, 2024;Open to films of all production techniques and genres;Submission for the Baltic competition is free of charge;Submissions from Ukraine are free of charge (write us to office@2annas.lv);Filmmakers of the selected films will be informed after February 2nd, 2026.
