The National Film centre

The National Film Centre of Latvia (NFC) is a public institution under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, and is responsible for the implementation of state cultural policy in the field of cinematography. NFC coordinates the Latvian Co-Financing Fund (a cash rebate scheme) for international film productions. The support is targeted towards international film co-productions where a Latvian film production company participates as a minority co-producer.

Riga Film Fund

The Riga City Council co-financing programme “Riga Film Fund” allocates co-financing through a tender. The programme is open to Latvian and foreign co-productions planning to shoot in Riga and Latvia. The Riga Film Fund tender is organized up to four times a year, once per quarter, and up to 20% of eligible film related expenditure can be obtained by the tender winner as cash rebate when filming is completed.

Investment and Development Agency of Latvia

The programme is a production incentive supporting the incoming productions of full-length feature films, documentaries and animation films, TV films. An application can be made for international production service or co-production to receive a cash rebate of 20-30% on eligible production costs. The support can be combined with other public funding sources in Latvia in case if the Co-financing programme’s support together with other funding sources does not exceed 50% of the film’s total expenses in Latvia.

The State Culture Capital Foundation

The aim of the State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF) is to promote a balanced development of creativity in all the branches of art and preservation of the cultural heritage in the country in conjunction with the guidelines of the state cultural policy. The SCCF does not deal with any commercial activities.
